Welcome to

One of the most unique distilleries in the world

Copper Still Craft Distillery is a True Craft distillery, where we grow fruit, make unique and delicious craft spirits with equipment we manufactured ourselves.

Our Story

A true craft distillery

The idea of starting a distillery was born in 1999 as part of a varsity Business Management project when Freek and Norman teamed up and took the challenge head-on to start a small business. We were given R500 to start a business and decided to buy three cases of “peach mampoer”. We decided to sell the illicit contraband at “sokkies” and varsity dances and made a killing! We became true moonshiners!

Twenty years later the idea evolved, and we established Copper Still Craft Distillery in October 2017. Within a short period, we tested and perfected various different products and became Master Distillers overnight.

Wherever the celebration, we bring the spirit.

How we do it

The distilling process

Distilling is a process of separating liquids into their component parts. This is done by heating the mixture and then condensing the vapors into separate containers. The vapors that are condensed will be composed of the purest form of the liquid. This process can be used to create distilled spirits from agricultural products such as grapes, other fruits, sugar cane, molasses, potatoes, cereals, etc. By distilling these raw materials, it is possible to produce a much purer form of alcohol.
